"BETWEEN PLACES"
Myriam Mall
Myriam Mall was born in Switzerland and raised between Switzerland and Germany. Although creativity shaped her from an early age, her path to painting was anything but linear. After studying law in Basel and the United States and working briefly as a lawyer, she ultimately returned to the artistic world that had always been part of her life. In 2014, she began studying Fine Arts in Mannheim, graduating in 2018 under the guidance of artist and professor Michael Witlatschil. Today, she lives and works in Berlin.
Myriam Mall is a contemporary figurative painter, whose work explore the female figure and its relationship to the spaces it inhabits. Her paintings capture suspended moments – a woman by a swimming pool, a passenger on the subway, or a fleeting encounter within the rhythm of the city – where observation gradually gives way to atmosphere, emotion, and narrative.
Working with bold compositions, expressive color, and distinctly cinematic sensibility, she transforms everyday scenes into images that feel both intimate and quietly enigmatic. Her paintings invite viewers into familiar yet open-ended world, where a single glance or gesture suggests stories beyond the canvas.
Ultimately, her paintings are driven by a simple yet profound intention: to paint beauty—not as an ideal or ornament, but as something found in presence, light, colour, and the quiet complexity of everyday life.
